Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL)

This course is a introduction to Basic American Sign Language, as well as a “how-to” guide on the use and application of American Sign Language vocabulary and grammar.

Deaf Awareness and Culture

This course discusses the culture and diversity of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. It explains their way of life and what they have gone through over the last 100 years. It will also explain the differences between hearing culture and deaf culture.

How to work with a Deaf or Hard of Hearing employee 

This course provides an overview of how all employees at a workplace (whether Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing) can all work together in a cohesive and effective environment. There will also be deaf and hearing awareness training provided to all employees.

How to work with a Sign Language Interpreter

This course will provide guidance and in-depth information about how to best utilize a Sign Language interpreter in your workplace. You will learn the different types of interpretation available, as well as interpreter etiquette. There are many do’s and don’ts when working with an interpreter and these will be discussed as well.
